Dabbling in Demos: Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Hullo, dear fellow gamers; hope you’re doing just as fine as me, and gaming like the wind like me! I have my hands — and fingers — full with the New Classics project; but that won’t prevent me from dabbling in other gaming pursuits. See, I’m sometimes curious about some games, but not nearly enough to commit to a purchase; and that’s where demos neatly and conveniently come into play. I just discovered the sheer abundance of Switch demos, and I’m totally planning to make good use of it; and along that good use comes a brand-new feature, which is bound to reappear regularly on that blog.

So, let’s get started! I replayed the original entry lately, and I was quite curious to try the latest 30 years is quite a stretch, ain’t it? Not gonna lie: the bright colours and gorgeous vistas totally wowed me, and won me over immediately. I was further won over by the controls, which are just as deliciously intuitive as the controls from the original game. That series sure knows how to lure players in! To crown that goodness, I was treated to Kirby’s many delightful transformations — I swear I laughed aloud when the creature transformed into a soda vending machine spitting cans.

I had the time of my life handling Kirby in the titular forgotten land… for exactly fifteen minutes. Then, I suddenly felt I had seen, and enjoyed, everything the game had to offer me — cue that last word. This is a great game; but fifteen minutes of Kirby is all I need to be fulfilled. That is roughly the time I need to clear a full run of Kirby’s Dream Land, King ‘fake longevity’ Dedede not included; and that is why KDL remains the ultimate and unsurpassable Kirby entry as far as I’m concerned. Until the next demo, dear fellow gamers, take care and keep doing your thing!
